Right timing for Receptionist

Latifah

Townsville Aboriginal Islander Health Services is an ongoing employer with Break Thru. The company has received significant support from our Aitkenvale office with a number of clients being placed with the business over the past three years.

The employer was seeking to fill the position of Receptionist at the Centre’s Mum’s and Bub’s clinic. They were seeking applicants who were motivated to work and willing to learn new skills to fit the position.

21-year-old Latifah came to Break Thru Aitkenvale with little idea of her career aspirations. The Indigenous job seeker had minimal knowledge of industries available to her and was willing to take on a challenge if the opportunity arose.

It seemed like perfect timing once the Receptionist position was advertised. While addressing Latifah’s skill base and interests, she was identified as the right fit for the Townsville Aboriginal Islander Health Services. Break Thru’s Indigenous Mentor contacted the employer on Latifah’s behalf and arranged an interview.

The employer was blown away with Latifah’s energy and willingness to learn new skills on the job. She was immediately offered the position within the Mum’s and Bub’s clinic however was soon promoted to the main reception area of the medical clinic.

Break Thru’s Indigenous Mentor remains in contact with the Townsville Aboriginal Islander Health and provides ongoing support to the employer according to their needs. Since starting in her position, Latifah has commenced studying a Certificate III in Indigenous Health and continues to work four days per week.

Quality staff for employers with Break Thru

Aaron Photo1

We at Break Thru pride ourselves on our ability to deliver the right staff for our employers. We go that extra step at every stage of the employment path – whether it be pre-employment, recruitment or post placement and everything in between – ensuring quality staff for employers every time.

This was the case for Sandgate employer, S Ruban, who approached our Wallsend team after experiencing difficulties with unreliable staff. To eliminate unnecessary time and stress, our team offered tailored pre-screening and training to the business to ensure only suitable candidates were identified.

Through the recruitment process, job seeker Aaron was highlighted as the right fit for the company. The 27-year-old had joined Break Thru Wallsend after experiencing long term unemployment and a limited work history. Aaron participated in training and was provided with protective equipment to ensure all safety needs were met for employment.

The Wallsend team approached S Ruban on Aaron’s behalf, describing him as a ‘young, fit, polite and reliable’ job seeker. Despite Aaron’s limited work history, S Ruban was more than happy to give ‘a battler a go’ and offered him a work trial. Aaron proved he was the right match, performing so well that he was soon offered a permanent position with the company.

Break Thru continues to support both Aaron and S Ruban through financial and training means. The employer receives a wage subsidy and has agreed to contact the team at Break Thru Wallsend when a position next opens.
